LIFE @ St. Anne's - 3/16/2022

Hi <<First Name>>, welcome to LIFE @ St. Anne's. We hope this will help you keep up with all the happenings here at St. Anne's.  Have a blessed week.

It feels like SPRING! The sun is shining, a brave (or dumb) little crocus popped out of my front garden bed, and the dog has been leaving muddy pawprints on every hard-to-clean surface in my home.

When this season arrives I invariably start to reflect on new life. As I examined my garden beds today I noticed little sprigs of new growth poking out from beneath the deadwood of last year. I've been wondering about our own sprouts of new growth amidst the deadwood of our past- both as individuals and as The Church. What are we called to prune, to let go of? What are we called to care for, to build-up? I don't have answers obviously (when do I???) but I do invite us all into the sunlight to explore, examine, reflect, and grow.

Peace,
Meg +

Our community needs YOU, check below to see how you can help. If you're interested in starting up a ministry to address a need in the community please see Meg. The real work of being the church begins when we walk out our doors.

Refugee Apartment- If you would like to join our refugee ministry team please speak with Brie. We're always in need of drivers and extra help.

Hillcrest - Hillcrest is a transitional housing program for people who need a helping hand. St. Anne's sponsors an apartment for this program in partnership with St. Paul's Lee's Summit. Occasionally there is a need for supplies or volunteers to clean. The Hillcrest ministry is in need of items for their pantry. A list is above the white basket by the table in the Narthex.

St. Michael’s Pantry - St. Michael’s, Independence, hosts a necessity pantry providing a variety personal care items for those in our community needing assistance. This pantry can always use donations of men’s and women’s toiletry and personal hygiene items as well as dish soap and laundry detergent. Any donations should be left in the baskets located in the Narthex. The Pantry operates form 10a-2p the 1st and 3rd  Wednesday of each month.

BackSnack - St. Anne's BackSnack ministry fills 60 backpacks each week with packets of non- perishable food for children at Lee's Summit Elementary. The food is provided by Harvester's and delivered to our church by Episcopal Community Services. BackSnack meets at 1:30 on Monday.

Beds of Bags- Join us to weave plastic bags into "plarn" that will be used to make beds for people who are homeless. We weave plarn before church on Sunday morning.
Explore the many ways you can participate in ministry at St. Anne's.
Altar Guild - The Altar Guild helps prepare the altar each Sunday for Eucharist. If you are interested in this ministry please speak with Brie Miller.

Sunday School – Our Sunday School program is offered once a month following the Youth Sunday service. The lesson and activities are child-friendly, but all ages are encouraged to stay and participate.  If you are interested in leading one of these sessions please let Meg know. We need a teacher for December! You will have a $50 budget for any supplies that might be needed.
Choir - Join the Choir! No auditions or age requirements! Come practice with the choir on Sunday mornings at 9:30.

Cleaning Crew - The Cleaning Crew is a vital part of our parish that requires about 2 ½ hours and is scheduled approximately 6 times during the year. Let us know if you are interested in maintaining the homey feel of our facility.
