Professor Monique Marks, the Head of the Urban Futures Centre at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) which is based in the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, is one of the institution’s shining research stars.
The DUT (UFC@DUT’s) work she does focuses on improving the quality of life of the most marginal in our society through engaged research, and developing robust models for intervention to resolve ‘tricky’ urban troubles.

The two-day Human Resource Development Council Early Childhood Development (ECD) Indaba themed: Providing the Children of KwaZulu-Natal a Flying Start to the Future commenced today, on Thursday, 17 March 2022 and is set to end on Friday, 18 March 2022 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (Durban ICC).
This prestigious event is hosted by the Durban University of Technology (DUT) in collaboration with the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government and the University of South Africa (Unisa).

The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Nkululeko Mbatha, is flying the DUT flag high after being selected as one of the four finalists for the virtual Suprastar Search Competition 2022.
The virtual Suprastar Search Competition 2022 aims to give two entrants the chance to make it to the Supra stage to represent their country at the upcoming Mister and Miss Supranational competition, taking place in Poland in July 2022.
HYDROPONICS AND CROP FARMING 5-DAY TRAINING FOR YOUTH IN KZN
The innobiz Durban University of Technology (DUT) Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in collaboration with the Agri-business Development Agency (ADA) recently hosted a Hydroponics and Farm Business Management workshop for youth in agricultural entrepreneurship.
Snenhlanhla Khumalo from Premier Agri, facilitated the training which focused on the internal operations of the hydroponic systems, mainly of the water requirements, nutrient requirements and the different nutrients and fertilisers.

Q: Kindly tell me about your role at DUT?
A: “I’m employed under the Department of Committees Administration as a Committee Officer. My role is the provide secretariat services to the Institutional Governance Structures and Management Committees.”
