CARES Act Supplemental & FY 2021 Funding Expenditure Reminders
- Any remaining CSBG CARES Act Supplemental funding is available for obligation until 9/30/2022 and must be expended/liquidated by 12/31/2022.
- Any remaining FY 2021 CSBG regular funding is available for obligation until 9/30/2022 and must be expended/liquidated by 12/31/2022.

Here are just a few ways that programs are using CSBG dollars to benefit communities this year:
- summer programming for youth,
- increased technology capacity for families and students,
- enhanced child care access to support employment,
- enhanced transportation supports, including gasoline cards, vehicle maintenance and repairs,
- increased emergency/crisis assistance,
- expanded wellness activities, and
- support for housing expenses, including rent and utility repair and assistance.

CSBG Tribal Network Annual Meeting, May 3-5
RSVP today! Last year's event was such a success with participation from over 75% of the CSBG Tribal Network. We are looking forward to another great event this year!
The CSBG Tribal Network 2022 Annual Meeting will be held online Tuesday, May 3 - Thursday, May 5 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm (Eastern). An important part of our gathering is the annual CSBG Tribal Roundtable scheduled on Tuesday, May 3 at 2:15pm. The CSBG Tribal Roundtable provides an open forum for Tribal grant recipients to share feedback and discuss items of interest directly with OCS federal staff and leaders. Tribal Leaders are warmly invited to join their CSBG Administrators for the CSBG Tribal Roundtable session.

CSBG FY 2022 Remaining Funds
The Office of Community Services (OCS) released a Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) on March 23, 2022 to inform the CSBG Network of the status of the remaining funds. On March 15, 2022, the President signed into law H.R. 2471, the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022 (P.L. 117-103),” which includes the full allocation of CSBG funding through September 30, 2022. Notification of funds availability will be forthcoming.
Per the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022 and section 673(2) of the CSBG Act, grant recipients may revise the poverty guideline by substituting ’’200 percent’’ for ’’125 percent’’ for CSBG and CARES funding during FY 2021 (October 1, 2020 — September 30, 2021) and FY 2022 (October 1, 2021 — September 30, 2022). OCS Celebrates the American Rescue Plan
March 11, 2022, marked the one-year anniversary of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) being signed into law. The Office of Community Services observed the ARP anniversary and is celebrating the tremendous work of grant recipients and partners across the country to ensure this historic funding reaches households in need. The ARP provided critical and unprecedented support to the underserved children, families, and communities. OCS sees the many efforts of the CSBG organizations to ensure that communities with low income maintain access to essential energy and water/wastewater services. Forging a Pathway to Excellence Webinar
Throughout the last two years, it has become more apparent that every community needs an excellent organization that can improve, and should continuously strive to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and to exceed expectations. The National Community Action Partnership (NCAP) will be hosting a webinar to discuss steps your agency can take to begin planning your excellence journey. The Pathways to Excellence program empowers CAAs in their pursuit of excellence through an intentional process of assessment, planning, and capacity building to institutionalize known best-in-class practices from the Community Action network and outlined in the 35 Standards of Excellence.

LIHEAP Training & Technical Assistance for Quarterly Reporting
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will be hosting two office hours for Tribal grant recipients to provide training and technical assistance for the Quarterly Performance and Management Data form and reporting requirements. Grant recipients are asked to pre-register for the office hours and review the training webinar slides prior to attending the office hours. Each session will be limited to 15 participants to maximize assistance.
On February 16, 2022, the Office of Community Services published a Dear Colleague Letter (DCL), 2022-08 Preparation for LIHEAP Quarterly Performance and Management Data Collection and Reporting, that provided grant recipients with drafts of the quarterly reports, instructions, and information to help prepare for the reporting requirements. As noted in the DCL, the first and second quarters of FY 2022 will be combined and due on April 29, 2022.

National Minority Health Month
Every April, the HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) observes National Minority Health Month to highlight the important role individuals and organizations can play in helping to reduce health disparities and improve the health of racial and ethnic minority and American Indian and Alaska Native communities. The theme this year is Give Your Community a Boost. This theme focuses on the continued importance of the COVID-19 vaccination, including boosters.
This April, OMH invites you to tell them how you #BoostYourCommunity and support your friends, family, and neighbors to get vaccinated and debunk misinformation! Use the hashtags #BoostYourCommunity and #NMHM2022 to share your events, activities, and photos on social media to show what you are doing to boost your community. FY2022 Tribal MIECHV Grants Available
The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is now soliciting applications for the FY2022 Tribal Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (TMIECHV) Grant Program: Development and Implementation Grants. This funding is intended for tribal entities that do not have prior experience with implementing evidence-based home visiting models, performance measurement systems, and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. Funds will support 63-month grants (cooperative agreements) between ACF and federally-recognized Indian Tribes (or a consortium of Indian Tribes), Tribal organizations, or urban Indian organizations to support the successful development of an evidence-based program to strengthen early childhood systems of support for families with young children. 5th Annual Conference on Native American Nutrition, May 23-25
Once again, the University of Minnesota is hosting the only conference series in the world devoted to the food and nutrition of Indigenous Peoples. The theme of this year's event is "Decolonizing and Indigenizing our Diets for Health." The event will bring together individuals of various professions to host sessions on healing from trauma, practical knowledge to return to traditional diets, and Indigenizing nutrition and food policy. There will be live chef demonstrations and an option to attend virtually. The event will be held May 23-25, 2022, at Mystic Lake Center, Prior Lake, MN.
