8th International Conference
on Smart Energy Systems

Do you wish to present your work at the 8th International Conference on Smart Energy Systems? The conference is organized by Aalborg University and Energy Cluster Denmark. As the 8th in the series, the conference is established as a main venue for presenting and discussing scientific findings and industrial experiences related to the subject of Smart Energy Systems – including renewable energy, 4th Generation District Heating Technologies and Systems (4GDH), electrification of heating and transport sectors, electrofuels and energy efficiency. Again in 2022, we look forward to welcoming participants from both academia and industry to a hybrid conference with the possibility to attend either online or in person – this time in Aalborg.

Remember to submit your abstract by 28 March 2022.

Governing European Heat Transitions
– PhD dissertation by Nis Bertelsen,
Aalborg University

In his PhD dissertation, Governing European Heat Transitions - The role of knowledge and collective agency in District Heating Planning, Nis Bertelsen explores heat consumption and planning approaches in Europe.
The dissertation deploys energy systems knowledge to evaluate the current and historical development of heat supply infrastructures and heat consumption. This is combined with historical and longitudinal case studies exploring successful heat planning attempts and the conditions for enabling them. A review of the energy and climate targets and policies deployed towards 2030 explores the measures that the EU-27 countries plan to use to transition their energy systems.
