SNB - JDI Negotiations Update

As was reported in the February 18, 2022 update, SNB and JDI were unable to come to an agreement on pricing during conciliation efforts earlier in February.

At the March 7, 2022 meeting of the SNB Board, a motion was passed to seek arbitration proceedings with JDI from the NB Forest Products Commission.

Yesterday, SNB and JDI were notified that the Commission has granted the arbitration request to proceed pursuant to Regulation 92-114 under the Forest Products Act. The two parties have been given seven days to appoint their respective member to the arbitration board and appoint a mutually agreed upon chairperson to hear the proceedings. If that is not possible, the Commission may appoint a chairperson.

Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Woodlot Owner Of The Year

Each year, fellow SNB woodlot owners nominate private woodlot owners in recognition of their outstanding efforts in managing their woodland. The award increases public awareness of the importance of forest management and encourages woodlot management among other woodlot owners.

Anyone can nominate a woodlot owner for the award. Once nominations are submitted, a review committee selects SNBFPMB’s Woodlot Owner of the Year and the award presentation takes place at the Annual Meeting, followed by a tour of the recipient’s woodlot later in the season.
