IN THIS ISSUE: USPTO NEWS, INVENTOR INSIGHTS,
NEW MEMBER INSTITUTE, ANNUAL MEETING UPDATES & MORE!

Dear Friends,

As I enter my fourth month as NAI’s Executive Director, I have been reflecting on what an incredibly exciting journey it has been so far. I am fortunate to work for a truly visionary medical researcher and innovator, Dr. Paul Sanberg, and to be supported by an outstanding staff of professionals.

I’m also excited by NAI’s newest opportunities to partner with other organizations. Foremost among these is our Joint Partnership Agreement with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This mutual effort aims to broaden diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in the invention and innovation ecosystems. You will be hearing more about the specifics of this collaboration in the coming months and how you can become involved.

As enthusiastic as we are about our work with the USPTO, the main focus for the next two months is to create the most rewarding experience possible for everyone who attends our annual conference in Phoenix, Arizona June 14-15. I want to take this opportunity to invite all of you to join us this year. The program is really shaping up to be one of the most substantive and career-enriching conferences we have ever held.

Speakers and panelists this year include some of the most accomplished and successful inventors and entrepreneurs in the world, including Nobel Laureate George Smith and NAI Fellow and National Inventor Hall of Fame inductee, Dr. Gary Michelson.

The new federal budget passed last month includes major funding for scientific research. The National Science Foundation will have a major presence at the conference and there will be other senior government officials in attendance as well. We will be sending you conference updates in the coming weeks and of course, you can always go to our website for more details and to register. I hope you will do both today.

Thank you for your continued support of the Academy.

Jamie Renee,
Executive Director, NAI

Resource to Teach Sustainability Skills to a New Generation of Engineers

The growing industry demand for green engineering skills and knowledge across disciplines is creating a talent gap.
