“You must trust and believe in people or life becomes impossible.”

— Anton Chekhov

Hello <<First Name>>—

This week Cory, Jonathan and I have been in Rust, Germany for CloudFest — a cloud computing conference that started with a weekend-long hackathon focusing on open source projects.

WordPress was well represented in the projects, and I was incredibly impressed by the deliverables each team focused on. Don’t be surprised to see one or two end up in WordPress core!

Carole Olinger was the organizer of the hackathon, and it was a well-oiled machine! We had many Post Status members represented as well. Jason Rouet, Robert Windisch, Marcel Schmitz, Mike Demo, and Robert Jacobi were all participating and gave great energy to the room.

Post Status was one of the sponsors of the hackathon, along with our partners Cloudways and GoDaddy Pro. Everyone in attendance received a free year of our Pro+ Membership, so say hello when you see all the new names pop into chat.

While in Rust, we hosted a member huddle event — and let me tell you, it was energizing! So many names we had seen in Post Status Slack were there on the screen interacting. It reinforced our desire to continue to expand our focus outside the US. To create more events and opportunities accessible in many time zones.

And not to be outshined, Jonathan Wold stepped in at the last minute to keep the conference running smoothly. He gave a talk on the state of WordPress and hosted a panel discussion with Robert Jacobi (Cloudways), Chris Lubkert (Extendify) and Jean-Baptiste Marchand-Avlier (WP Media). The panel discussed the true value of the WordPress ecosystem, and we’ll be bringing some of that material to you soon.

Overall it was an amazing event, and I’m looking forward to going again next year. It’s likely the focus of CloudFest 2023 will be WordPress!

– Lindsey
