March 2022 Newsletter

March is National Women's History Month

There have been incredible women that have come before us and paved the way for the incredible work women do across the world.  All of us know amazing women in our lives, who we have worked for, lived with, and look up to.

There are the ever famous women of the past such as Susan B. Anthony who played an instrumental role in women's suffrage pushing congress to all women the right to vote.  Rosa Park who refused to give up her seat in the "colored section" on a bus to a white man.  Sandra Day O'Conner a lawyer and celebrated judge who became the first woman on the Supreme Court.  There are many more who have followed in their pioneering paths and many more who will continue to lead the way.

National Women's Month was started in 1987 as a way to celebrate women across the nation and their efforts to make the world a better place for women of all ages and races!  Take some time to learn more about National Women's History Month and learn about all the courage and strength women have in the world, then take time to reflect on the women you have looked up to and the role model you can be for girls and women around you today.

When You Child Isn't a Child Any More

You’ve spent days, months, weeks, and even years devoting yourself to taking care of your kinship child. You didn’t necessarily plan to, and you never expected what would come from this experience, but here you are, and they are nearing their 18th birthday. There is a sense of relief but also a whirlwind of a thousand other emotions. So, what do you do now? You figured out how to live with your kinship child and for the most part, help them thrive, but now they are entering the “real world”. Will their trauma from their birth parents impact them differently now? Will everything you’ve worked to protect them from eventually find a way in?

Check out our Blog for more ways to cope with and understand the feelings of letting your child expand outside of your home and protection.
