So often, festivals like ours rely on music, dance, and food--all of which are important--but we also want to emphasize that the folk tradition of making things is part and parcel of this experience.
Rooted in this new component is a DIY mentality. Whether it's basket weaving, ceramics, or knot tying, these hands-on activities have deep origin stories worldwide.
By providing this Maker's Space, we hope to encourage and instill a sense of wonder and imagination in our creative energies and curiosities. In addition, we hope to pique people's interest in the deep well of resources and organizations that teach and engage those curiosities around the city, county, state, and region.
