The Philadelphia College Prep Roundtable is an appreciative recipient of the William Penn Foundation "Racial Equity Grant Fund". Recently there was a blog entry from Ebony English and Amanda Charles reflecting on the grant.

A portion of the blog - "Small organizations whose leaders come from the communities they serve have a strong understanding of the unique strengths and needs of their communities and are well-positioned to build relationships with children and families. Yet small organizations led by people of color have had less access to capital – a primary barrier to their organizational growth. In designing the Racial Equity Grant Fund, we sought to address this barrier and focus on organizations whose work supports our education program’s goals of increasing early learning and high school graduation."

PACAC’s Professional Development Committee presents

Promoting  Inclusivity & Equity

An Online Workshop Series

Topic:  Speaking Up for Our Students:  How to support our students in advocating for themselves in the college admission process

Audience:  Everyone

When: Thursday, March 31st, 10:30am-Noon ET

Presenters

Stacey Cunitz, The Crefeld School
Alicia Olgesby, Lower Mooreland School District
*More about the presenters can be found here.

**Reminder: As with all PACAC presentations, the inclusion of any presenter (vendor, college, etc.) is not an endorsement by PACAC or any representative thereof.*

Description:

In the last few years, it seems like students need our advocacy more and more. As admission practices start to push the boundaries of best practice, we know that those students who are typically found at the margins – Students of Color, LGBTQ students, First Gen, Low Income – are disproportionately impacted and likely lack the resources to advocate for themselves. In this workshop, we will discuss both the "Why" and the "How to" -- come ready to learn and to share!

After attending this workshop, you will receive a Certificate of Completion and online application form to submit for ACT 48 credit through PACAC. (Note: you must be registered and logged in to the LIVE Online Workshop individually for the entire time to qualify for the certificate.)

Cost:  FREE for PACAC Members. Non-Members: $10

**Join PACAC today ($25 individual annual membership) and attend all online workshops for FREE!

We hope to "see" you online next week!

2022 Guiding the Way to Inclusion

July 24-27, 2022
Philadelphia, PA

NACAC’s Guiding the Way to Inclusion (GWI) conference is aimed at secondary, postsecondary, and CBO college admission professionals committed to championing the needs of diverse students within the college admission process. The annual gathering offers educational sessions regarding multicultural recruitment and campus inclusion while also providing a shared space for like-minded professionals to reflect on current issues and share best practices related to equity in higher education. Small group sessions, roundtable discussions, and networking opportunities provide avenues for both personal and professional growth.

More details can be found at GWI Information page.

Join NCAN at our national conference, "Advancing the Right to Postsecondary Attainment," from Sept. 12-14, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia. We are looking forward to returning to an in-person conference experience in the beautiful city of Atlanta and paying homage to the city known as the "cradle of the civil rights movement."

We invite you to network with and learn from colleagues in the higher education, nonprofit, K-12, policy, and philanthropic communities all rallied around one mission: to close the equity gaps in postsecondary attainment.

Call for Proposals

Conference proposals are coming in and we’re excited to see our network’s interest to present in Atlanta. Keep 'em comin', and encourage fellow professionals in the postsecondary attainment field to consider submitting a proposal as well.

Submissions are due Sunday, April 10!

Need more time to plan? Download the call for proposals guide to help you prepare for completing the online submission process.
