The annual ICAR conference is undoubtedly the right place for networking and learning about those new tools and technologies related to animal improvement and performance recording. But it is also the right place to enjoy the local flavours of the host country!
Montréal Complètement Cirque!
Montréal is the hub of circus arts in Canada. World-famous Cirque du Soleil started here, in the province of Québec and has its headquarters in Montréal (and they will have a show in town as of mid-May!). Their incredible performances conquered every continent. They inspired many artists and performers to follow their passion and creativity to create countless circus shows and troupes such as the Cirque Éloize or The 7 fingers. What if we transformed the traditional Gala dinner into a complete circus? Don't miss it!
Science and the secret of maple syrup
Two professional tours will be offered on Friday, June 3, for the brave guests. The first group will head West to the Lactanet main office in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. Visitors will enjoy a tour of the Lactanet state-of-the-art milk laboratory, one of the largest in North America. The second tour will head East to Boviteq, a division of Semex, located in Saint-Hyacinthe. As a world leader in developing and implementing the latest genetic and reproductive techniques, the visit will be captivating!
After being immersed in laboratories and science, you will have a chance to enjoy the science and sweet taste of maple syrup. Once in your life, you need to experience the festive and folkloric ambiance of the «Cabane à sucre» (sugar shack)! Enjoy a hearty meal enhanced with this sweet and golden nectar in a typical building where the secret of making the syrup will be revealed only to those lucky guests. Once you are well fed, we will take you down to earth. The French expression "le plancher des vaches" (the cows' floor) is most appropriate as each tour will end with a visit to a dairy farm that will feature the «savoir-faire» of Canadian dairy farmers.

Interbull Call for Abstract
The Interbull Call for Abstracts is still open until April 20. Authors are invited to submit titles and abstracts by visiting the Interbull website. You can also find more details about the Interbull program.
