Earth Month Call to Action: Flood the Phones, Not the Planet!

Make your voices heard this Earth month by urging your senators to immediately pass the $550 billion in investments for climate, justice, and jobs that the U.S. House of Representatives has already approved. It's time to Build Back Better! Call once, call twice, call every day.

Flood the Phones, NOT the Planet! Call once, call twice, call every day. There are two simple ways to do this:

  1. If you have downloaded the Climate Action Now app  just enter “Flood the Phones” in the search field, and click on the option to either call or email your representatives.

  2. Call 1 (877) 215-0983, and you will be connected to the office of your representative.  Then share your social network and ask them to join you in this action!

Space is limited for this training, so get your application in early! Although the target region for this training is the US Southwest, Bay Area residents may still apply. The deadline for applications is April 20th. Scholarships are available

Support California's Natural Carbon Sequestration and Resilience act of 2022

On March 22nd, Assemblymember Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) introduced The Natural Carbon Sequestration and Resilience Act of 2022 (AB 2649). The bill, sponsored by The Climate Center, the Carbon Cycle Institute and the California Association of Resource Conservation Districts, sets California’s first statutory targets for sequestering carbon in soils and vegetation.

Communications Team Update: Seeking (Practice) Podcast Guests

We are working on our upcoming chapter podcast, “Everyday Climate Champions.” We will bring forth inspiring local voices via brief conversations with “everyday people” from all walks of life in different Bay Area communities. Learn how our neighbors are finding and using climate solutions on our way to a just transition. They’re acting in small and big ways at home, work, family, and community.

Our emphasis will be on people from frontline communities and groups that have traditionally been under-represented in the climate movement, and will encourage listeners to implement climate solutions in their own lives.

Are you an Everyday Climate Champion? We are looking for a few friendly chapter members to be interviewed this Spring to rehearse our podcasting skills. The first 4 topics will be water conservation, agriculture/rural issues (e.g., drought, fertilizer, declining soil quality, GMO seeds, trees), recycling/product lifecycle, and food (choices/security/sovereignty /reclamation/waste/declining nutritional value).

If you are involved (as a non-expert) with a local climate solution on any of these topics and would like to be interviewed, please fill out this brief form. Please know that these interviews are for practice purposes, and may not end up as part of the final podcast. Thank you!
