The Office of Sustainability would like to wish you and your loved ones a Ramadan Kareem! During this month, we all practice mindfulness, and self-reflection to make lasting changes. When reflecting on our actions and behavior, we should also consider our treatment of nature and our planet and use this as an opportunity to consider changes in our habits to better impact the earth. Furthermore, during this month, as we gather with our loved ones for iftar and suhoor meals, don't forget to be conscious of your plastic and food waste!

The Egyptian Minister of Environment, Dr. Yasmine Fouad was a keynote speaker on March 27th at the launch of AUC's annual Research and Creativity Convention.

The Office of Sustainability published AUC's second sustainability report and brochure. This report highlights the University’s commitment to sustainability throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite numerous challenges brought by the pandemic, AUC community members continued implementing sustainable practices within the University and raising awareness of how the community can help the environment. This report alternates with AUC’s Carbon Footprint Report. The sustainability report is released every other year, this report alternates with AUC’s Carbon Footprint Report.

Egypt Corporate Social Responsibility forum is an annual event that aims to promote the government's efforts by providing opportunities for stakeholders to network and form partnerships for sustainable development. This year, Egypt's 12th CSR Forum was held in Luxor and focused on financial sustainability and reducing the financial gap. Sustainability Director, Eng. Yasmine Mansour and Sustainability Manager, Sahar El Ghandour attended the forum on behalf of the AUC.

22nd April- Earth Day
Earth Day was created to raise awareness of environmental issues and educate the youth on sustainable practices and encourage them to take action. The theme for this year's Earth Day is "Invest in our planet". The message behind this theme is that change must come from all politicians, businesses, and individuals and we must all make small sacrifices for the long-term benefits.

2. An Inconvenient Truth:

An award-winning documentary that was created back in 2006, reporting the campaign held by the former US president to raise awareness on global warming and reenergize the environmental movement. The documentary emphasizes the reality of global warming and urges change.
