Call to Action - 7th April 2022
Ballina Region for Refugees
Federal Election Campaign to advocate for changes to policies affecting refugees
Ballina Region for Refugees (BR4R) will be lobbying all candidates in the upcoming federal election in the electorates of Richmond and Page. Our purpose is to promote the right of refugees to settle safely in Australia and become permanent citizens.
BR4R will use 3 strategies to do this.
-
Distribute Postcards at all BR4R events and to other refugee advocacy groups on the Far North Coast including churches. The postcards are signed and sent to local candidates and current Ministers
-
Make contact with all of the candidates in Page and Richmond – face to face meetings, phone calls, emails or letters
-
Use social media, local radio and print media to communicate with voters in Page and Richmond about the current unjust policies and the changes that must be made
How can you get involved?
-
Contact BR4R Volunteer Coordinator (volunteers@br4r.org.au or 0407219898) to register your participation
-
Involve other people – we need as many people as possible to take action
We don’t have much time. The federal election will be held on or before 21 May 2022.
