Bread and Baked Goods Sector Profile in the South East 

Employing approx. 1,000 people in the South East, the bakery sector includes the making and selling of loaves of bread, blaas, cakes, rolls, pastries, baguettes, crumpets and muffins. The sector continues to adapt to changes in consumer preferences but there is a shortage of training opportunities for commercial bakeries. More here.

Training on additive manufacturing and 3D printing in the region

SEAM (South Eastern Applied Materials) Research Centre based in Waterford Institute of Technology is one of 4 technology gateways in the south east. A recent visit to the facility gave some of the engineering companies in the region an insight into the services provided at SEAM which include training on additive manufacturing and 3D printing. Further Education & Training in Green Skills 
At the first ever FET Green Skills Summit in Wexford (23 March) Minister Harris noted about training that ‘There is no shortage of availability. Attracting people to participate is the challenge we face.’   More here.
Awards & Credits Explained 
The National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) is a system of ten levels. Accredited awards in Ireland are linked to the NFQ and each award is quantified in terms of ‘Credits’ (European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)). For a concise explanation read more here.
