Important Information on the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza

On March 27, 2022, the first case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was confirmed in a poultry flock in Ontario.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is leading the investigation and we are providing this information to ensure York Region small flock poultry farmers are aware of the situation and take precautions to protect their operations.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) is working with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), who is leading the disease response, the Feather Board Command Centre and the commercial and small flock poultry sectors to support producers and poultry owners to reduce further spread of the disease.

Register here for regular webinar updates on the situation.
