Ministry Update April 2022

Director’s Update

Summer 2022 is just around the corner, and we are looking forward to returning to a normal camp program! Most of our staff have been hired, registrations are flowing in, and there is just a general excitement to see everyone having fun, making new friends, as well as enjoying old friendships. Most importantly, we are excited to see how God will work in us all as we grow in following Jesus together!

If you wonder how camp can play a significant role in your life just read the following story from Becky Stymiest:

“In the 1980’s my parents were involved in Frontier Lodge. As I kid attended camp and loved the games, songs, and waterfront. What made the biggest impression on me at the time were the teen counselors. They were energetic and fun, but also kind and I could see that they loved Jesus. I can remember thinking, “If that is what a Christian is, I would like to be like them.” They lived out their faith in a way that was relatable to me compared to the many wonderful adult Christians I knew, who only did “boring adult stuff.”

I continued on at Frontier Lodge as a teen and worked in all the different areas of camp. I loved counselling and waterfront most of all. I made wonderful friends that I love and treasure even today (including a husband :D). Working at camp taught me responsibility and guided me in ways to allow Jesus to shape how I dealt with others. If a fellow staff and I had a disagreement, the leaders challenged us to forgive and work out the issue. I learned to lead but also to support and follow. I learned how to be on a team and be accountable for my actions. My faith became my own through many late night campfire conversations with friends and early morning talks with God as the mist rose off the lake. I learned God made me with unique talents and gifts that ended up shaping my career choice.

Now I send my children to camp, both as campers and staff. I love watching them experience the same wonderful things I did there. I love hearing old and new camp songs being sung ad nauseum in our house. I pray for the friends they make and the staff they interact with. I trust God to meet them there, just as He met me.”

It is because of stories like this we do what we do. It is these stories that encourage us and bring us joy as we push forward and participate in what God is doing here in Quebec. If you would like to participate as well below are many ways you can.

Prayer

As we head into our summer camp season here are five things we would ask you to pray that:

We would support each other in our life for Christ through friendship, mentorship, prayer, worship, and the study of Scripture.
God’s love would compel us to serve in humility.
Everyone would feel welcome in our camp community.
We would let the Lord shape the desires of our heart to align with His.
We would grow into a posture of confidence because of our identity as the beloved.

Golf Tournament

This year’s annual Frontier Cup will take place on April 30th, 2022 to raise funds for sponsorships to provide all families with the opportunity to send their kids to camp this year. Please check out our website for more information and to sign up to participate!

Family Camp

Join us for a weekend away at the lake! Spend leisure time together, engage in community time with other families and connect with God. Kids programming will be provided throughout the weekend! Registration for Family Camp will open on April 20th at 9am.

Spring Work Party!

Our Frontier Lodge facility and grounds require a lot of up-keep and maintenance to keep it functioning as needed. This challenge provides us with the opportunity to spend time together for a day and participate in what God is doing through camp ministry. As our FL community, we are inviting you to consider joining us for our Work Party on May 28th. This will be an essential day to get camp ready for our first big year back since 2019.

We have jobs and projects for all ages. We would love to see families coming out with their kids, youth groups bringing their students, and friends joining together to make a visible difference at Frontier Lodge! What better way to spend a day with your friends and family, than to invest your time in a ministry that has made a difference in your family’s life.

The Ark

Our new building The Ark is coming along. The walls have just gone up and the trusses and roof should be on in the next two weeks. We are hopeful that enough will be complete to use this summer. Please keep this project in your prayers as we are excited in how it will facilitate the ministry at camp.

Pursuit Young Adults Retreat

Pursuit Young Adults Retreat is back! This year the retreat has been moved to June 10th-12th, 2022 so that more students will have the opportunity to attend! This is an awesome weekend for young adults ages 18-30 to retreat at the lake and spend intentional time with God and in community with others.
