Resources for Families Developed by the
Trying Together Early Childhood League
Trying Together has released a new policy report and early intervention guide for families developed by the Early Childhood League.
Trying Together teamed up with a group of parents and caregivers to launch the Early Childhood League in 2021. The League aimed to connect parents, caregivers, and community organizations and empower them to advocate for positive changes in early learning policies that affect them and their children.
Trying Together designated the entire month of April as the Month of The Young Child (MOYC).
The Month of the Young Child is a time when the dedicated work of early educators can be promoted for the essential role that it plays in our society. The events of the last few years have demonstrated just how important it is to fund, support, and elevate the work of child care. Trying Together has assembled a month full of opportunities to share the importance of early care with the audiences that need to hear it most.
This annual event is an opportunity for people from throughout the Pittsburgh region to play together and raise awareness of the benefits of play for everyone—from birth to 199 years. Partner and community organizations offer play activities for all ages at a different venue each year. More details for this event will be available in the coming months.
The workforce crisis within the child care sector continues to result in the closure of child care classrooms and entire facilities. As a result, working parents are struggling to find child care and Pennsylvania businesses are struggling to find employees.
Start Strong PA is asking for your signature in support of a $115 million investment that will allow an increase of $2 per hour for child care professionals in the Commonwealth.
Raising child care wages will not only give those professionals the pay they deserve, it will increase child care programs’ ability to recruit and retain qualified staff. This would be a critical first step to solving Pennsylvania’s workforce crisis.
The Allegheny Summer Camps tool gives caregivers and parents of young children the opportunity to search real-time availability at Allegheny County early learning, out-of-school, summer camp, and virtual programs. Caregivers can search by school district, along their commute, or by age group.

2022 Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community
The Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community is an annual fundraising walk that benefits local health and human service agencies. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all seven 2022 Highmark Walks for a Healthy Community have been modified into an online-only fundraiser and virtual walk for this year’s campaign.
The primary goal of the walk is to help participating organizations raise money for their individual missions. One hundred percent of the donations received will go directly to the participating organizations. All donations must be received no later than June 30, 2022. Will you help Trying Together reach its fundraising goal?
