Fire/EMS Levy on May 3 Ballot: Loveland City Council has approved a Fire and EMS levy to be placed on the May 3 ballot for residents’ consideration. The last levy request was in 2014. The levy is to maintain the current level of service from the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department, while also maintaining fire stations and equipment. Read more.

New Thermal Imaging Cameras: LSFD applied to receive federal grant funding to purchase four new National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) compliant thermal imaging cameras.  Thermal imaging cameras are vital to firefighters to conduct search and rescue operations; to detect heat signatures to assist firefighters to find the seat of the fire; and to locate hot spots to prevent rekindle. It is LSFD’s policy to equip each firefighter with a thermal imaging camera.       
 
LSFD will be replacing older, out-of-date thermal imaging cameras with this delivery. After research, the department decided to go with the Flir K65 model. These cameras are equipped with five functions (basic mode, black and white, fire mode, search and rescue, and heat detection mode) and also have the ability to record images.  Each company officer will be equipped with the new technological cameras. 
 
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) provides federal funding to departments to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations. LSFD was awarded the 2021 AFG grant to purchase four thermal imaging cameras (not exceeding $28,800).

• Electronics Recycling Drive: The Loveland Sustainability Council will hold its annual Electronics Recycling Drive on April 23 from 1-4 p.m. Please note there has been a location change for this event; the drive will now be held at 227 E. Loveland Ave. (parking lot of East Loveland Nature Preserve/old Moose Lodge). Donate anything with a cord! • Annual Litter Clean-Up: Loveland’s Tree and Environment Committee is hosting a volunteer event April 30 near Nisbet Park. All welcome! Read more. 
   
• Dog Park Grand Opening: Gather the family and bring Fido to check out the dog park's grand opening celebration on May 7. There will be fun and special gifts for your four-legged friends!
   
• Spring Arts & Crafts Show: Loveland Athletic Boosters will hold its spring show May 14 at Loveland Primary School. Learn more.

Permit or Building Questions?

Do you have Building & Zoning questions? The city's Building Official is holding regular office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. to answer building related questions. No appointment necessary. Homeowners are welcome to call (513-583-3021) or visit City Hall (120 W. Loveland Ave.) to have their questions answered about the requirements and permit process regarding deck projects, shed construction, accessory building construction, etc.

In the past month, the city welcomed two new faces: 

• Cory Wright was sworn into office as the new Assistant City Manager. Cory began his career with the Clermont County Planning Department before moving to Union Township, where he served for the past 17 years — first as their Planning Director before being promoted to the Assistant Township Administrator. He has extensive experience in community planning. 

• Sue Madsen was appointed as Safety Director, while the city searches for a new police chief. Sue was the former Chief of Police at Miami Township. LPD's Chief Sean Rahe retired April 1, after starting his service with LPD  in 1998. The city thanks Chief Rahe for his years of his dedication to the community.
