CASC CAAW plans taking shape 
CAAW22 is less than 10 weeks away and we are ramping up our plans in anticipation of awareness week. As people will be aware, we have a dedicated CAAW22 webpage, click here. Over recent weeks we have agreed to partner with AMAT to run an excel workshop on 14 June at 14.30. We are also working on new materials to share with the clinical audit community that offer a fresh new perspective on CAAW and the value of clinical audit. We are in negotiations with several sectors who commonly aren’t involved in CAAW to set up online events for them and we are looking outside the UK for additional partners. Why should CAAW only be for England? The response to our long service awards has been phenomenal (see below) and we have now agreed speaker and topic for out breakfast event on 13 June. We’ll keep the speaker a mystery for a little longer, but she will be talking about how we best look after ourselves which seems appropriate as the success of CAAW is down to us all. Have you worked in clinical audit for over 10 years? Have you worked in clinical audit for over 20 years? If not, do you know others who have served in the audit community for over 10 years? If so, then please contact us as we want to hear from you and your long serving colleagues. For us CAAW is about trying to recognise as many people as we can. Our long service awards were first launched last Autumn and proved very popular. We have a limited number of awards to distribute this June so please get in touch. Note that we are happy to give awards to those who no longer work in clinical audit but who have amassed over 10 years clinical audit experience previously. Staff working outside the UK or who have retired from the NHS and healthcare are sadly not eligible. Email info@clinicalauditsupport.com Time to learn about SEIPS 
We all know that the NHS and healthcare love acronyms! With that in mind, do you know what SEIPS stands for? If not, why not join us on 5 May at 12.30 for our Learn at Lunch number 22! The session will look at SEIPS aka Safety Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety. The session will be facilitated by human factors expert Jane Higgs (pictured) and will provide a whistle stop introduction to SEIPS, what it is and how to use it! This session seems perfectly timed as many of us are awaiting more news in relation to the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and we know that healthcare teams are increasingly being encouraged to consider human factors when looking at incidents and risks. SEIPS is about understanding human beings and human behaviour and is relevant to clinical audit and QI professionals. Meeting zoom code: 858 8157 8012 / Passcode: 524257. We should also briefly mention the last Learn at Lunch on 24 March looking at the Menopause with Sarah Fereday. The level of engagement and honesty from women attending was brilliant and we will certainly be inviting Sarah back to run future sessions for us. National leaders unveil CAAW plans 
We understand that over 70 people logged on to the HQIP & NQICAN CAAW launch event on 24 March with keynote speakers Danny Keenan (pictured) and Vicky Patel. If you missed this event, watch back via the HQIP YouTube channel, here. This has already been viewed 46 times. While the launch event concentrated mainly on CAAW Professor Keenan took the opportunity to advise how major changes are planned for national audits. In future the data burden will be significantly reduced, the reporting process will be more rapid, reports will be more relevant to local clinicians and audit staff, etc. This is fantastic news for all involved in NCAs. In terms of CAAW the two main initiatives seem to be the awards (5 categories on offer) and the Lunch and Learn sessions every day of CAAW from 12.30 to 2pm. More details are on the HQIP website here. Note: CASC have taken the decision not to run our Learn at Lunch session during #CAAW week as we don’t want sessions to coincide with the HQIP Lunch and Learns. Conference season is here! 
There are so many events to tell you about! First up, please join us for Healthcare Conference UK’s annual clinical audit conference on 19 May. As ever the content for this event is varied and we are looking forward to talks by Dr Michael Sykes, Craig Short and others. To find out more about the day, click here. You can also claim 20% discount by quoting HCUK20CASC. The following week, Audit Management and Tracking (AMAT) are running their first conference in Manchester on 26 May. They have assembled a good line-up of speakers and you can book your place via their website here. We see more information being shared on Twitter about the ‘The NHS Big Conversation for Improvement’ scheduled for 11-12 May. This looks like an online QI festival with lots of interesting topics and speakers. To find out more and register for your place, click here.
