2022年4月1日、クリエーティブ・テクノロジストの菅野薫氏が社外取締役 兼 エグゼクティブ・クリエイティブ・ディレクターに就任しました。2016年に菅野氏とQosmoが関わった作品のひとつである『BRIAN ENO’S THE SHIP – A GENERATIVE FILM（2016）』はARS ELECTRONICA2017 STARTS PRIZEを受賞しました。この度の就任に際し、菅野氏は下記のコメントを寄せています。
「Qosmoと一緒に、AIを通して人間性というものを再度見つめ直すことに挑戦したいと思っています。我々の仕事が、人類が前を向くための力に少しでもなるように。」
Kaoru Sugano will join in the position of Outside Director and Executive Creative Director at Qosmo, effective from April 1, 2022. Mr. Sugano has been closely following Qosmo's activities since its founding, and one of his collaborative works with Qosmo, "BRIAN ENO'S THE SHIP - A GENERATIVE FILM (2016)", won an ARS ELECTRONICA2017 STARTS PRIZE. Mr. Sugano made the following comments:
“I would like to take this opportunity at Qosmo to rethink humanity through the lens of AI. I hope our work will help advance mankind towards a better future.”

We held a special online seminar to celebrate the release of the white paper "The State and Future of Music Generation AI (2022 Edition)”. The authors, Ryosuke and Akira, explained highlights of the paper, and a guest speaker Christopher, a collaborator on the paper, led a Q&A session. The session was highly successful, with numerous questions from the audience about the future of AI-enhanced creativity. The recording is available exclusively to readers of this newsletter. We’re delighted to announce that AI: More than Human exhibition, where our sound installation "Neural Beatbox" is exhibited, is now opening at Guangdong Science Center in China! The show is on a world tour starting from the Barbican Center in London in 2019.

Fragile Territories / ロバート・ヘンケ
ロバート・ヘンケの『Fragile Territories』は、4台の産業用レーザーを使用したオーディオビジュアル・インスタレーションで、人間の知覚を頼りに鮮やかに動く形を作り出しています。フランスのナントにある現代文化の中心地と呼ばれるLieu Uniqueからのコミッションにより制作・展示されたこの作品は、2013年に私がメディアアートを知るきっかけとなった作品です。この作品は、私のコンピュータに対する認識を変え、知覚芸術がそれ自体で探求すべき分野であることを認識させてくれました。それから10年近く経った今でも、この目標を追い求めています。（ロビン）
Fragile Territories / Robert Henke
Robert Henke’s Fragile Territories is an audiovisual installation powered by 4 industrial lasers, relying on human perception to produce vivid, moving shapes. Commissioned and exhibited by the Lieu Unique in Nantes, France, this artwork was my introduction to media arts, back in 2013. It shifted my perception of computers, and made me realize that sensory art was a field on its own to be explored. Almost a decade later, I still pursue this goal. (Robin)

シュミット タイポグラフィ ヘルムート・シュミット作品集
大阪を拠点に活動されていたドイツ国籍のタイポグラファ、ヘルムート・シュミット。
2018年氏の逝去後刊行された、最新の作品集である。氏がデザインを手掛けたポカリスエットはあまりにも有名だが、POCARI SWEATの文字はよく見ると均一なカーニング（文字間）ではありません。そう、明らかではなくかすかに。「デザインは楽しいものであるべきです。デザイン過剰はかえって不快になることがあります」と氏が言及している通りデザイン作品と彼の思想が一体となって見えてきます。

Schmid Typography / Helmut Schmid
Helmut Schmidt is a German typographer based in Osaka.
This is the latest collection of his works published after his passing in 2018. The Pocari Sweat Logo that he designed is very well known, but if you look closely, the letters of POCARI SWEAT do not have uniform kerning (letter spacing). Yes, not obvious, but faint. Design should be fun. Excessive design can be offensive." As he mentions, you can see his philosophy in his works. “Design is attitude.” (Ise)
