Hello Everyone,
We're excited to let you know we made it Port Alsworth and have already begun our work. Our first month here has flown by, and we're settled in nicely.

The drive up through Canada went very well, our little Subaru ran like a champ, and we didn't have too much trouble with the snow. It's always a beautiful drive, but this time up we saw a lot of beautiful and unique wildlife including a wolf, a lynx, foxes, coyotes, wild horses, caribou, and a moose.
There are lots of logistics to sort out and errands to run before moving to the Bush, so much so it's hard to even wrap your head around sometimes. We are thankful to have had very helpful seasoned locals to let us pick their brains and help us get on our way. So once we made it to Anchorage we spent a few extremely busy days there for multiple Costco runs, the DMV, cell plan conversion, and much more. But it all went relatively smoothly and we were able to accomplish everything we needed to in the few days we were there before flying out.

We arrived in Port Alsworth on Wednesday and spent a day and a half unpacking and moving in, only to be hit with the whirlwind of Spring family Conference starting that Friday morning. It was TBC's largest spring conference yet, with about 120 people flying in from other towns and villages. It was a great time of worship, fellowship, and sharing what the Lord is doing in many lives and communities across South West Alaska.

Abi has already begun flying with the TLC students, and is of course loving that. She is also getting started on plans and preparations for her role this summer as camp Program Director. Matt has been very busy with several maintenance projects around camp, and helping to prepare for the summer camp season. He was able to fly out on outreach trips the last two last weekends to the nearby villages of Dillingham and Naknek, and had a great time of connection and fellowship with the believers in each village.
We are so excited and grateful to be here. It is continually awe-inspiring to see how God has paved the way for us going forward and following His call and His leading for our lives. A year ago we weren't sure whether or not Alaska was the field for us, and probably wouldn't have envisioned a Bible camp for our permanent placement. But now, a year later, we know we are EXACTLY where we are supposed to be and already feel so at home here.

Our prayer requests for the near future are
  • Safety (especially for Abi as she flight instructs.)
  • For us to continue settling in and building relationships in the community.
  • For the TLC students to finish well.
  • Wisdom and discernment as we enter the busy spring season and to prepare well.

Thank you all SO SO much for your continued prayer and support. Being such faithful "senders" has allowed us to freely answer God's call on our life to go out on this big Alaskan adventure.
Love,
Matt & Abi
