Opening Prayer
O God, you make us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Dear Friends,
If you've wondered what Compline is, below is a great description of the service.
The last of the four services in the Daily Office (BCP, p. 127). It is descended from the night prayers said before bed at the end of the monastic round of daily prayer. Compline is a simple office including a confession of sins, one or more psalms, a short reading from scripture, versicles and responses, the Lord's Prayer, collects which ask for God's protection during the night to come, and the canticle Nunc dimittis. A hymn for the evening may follow the short reading from scripture. The collects may be followed by a time of silence, along with free intercessions and thanksgivings.
This service is held on Zoom each Thursday at 4 p.m. We urge you to join us for this short service of prayer and meditation before you get involved in preparing dinner and relaxing for the rest of the evening. Try it, you just may like it!

The Vestry met at the home of Marilyn and Matt Ganz on Saturday, March 12, for a 6-hour retreat/training session. We were guided by the Reverend Canon Mary Goshert. It was a great opportunity for Vestry members to get to know and trust each other.
Our main focus was understanding our roles as Vestry members and the responsibilities of vestries in the Episcopal Church. Canon Mary brought guides and other resources to help us and we talked about the importance of reviewing and possibly revising the Parish Vision Statement and Mission Statement. We also discussed our parish’s ministries, norms and protocols, and effective communication both inside and outside of the parish.
Additionally, the Vestry talked about updating the policy manual,
our role in leading evangelism as a means of making our church appealing to visitors who might become members, and as a duty of all Christians to spread the good news. We were encouraged to identify and address short-term issues and to plan for the church’s future.
The Vestry has a lot on our plate, and the retreat served to charge and empower us. It was a full, rewarding and entertaining retreat-workshop. We were treated to a marvelous lunch prepared by our hosts. Some of us had croque madame and others had croque monsieur sandwiches with homemade brioche made by Matt. We had a delicious pistachio cake made Marilyn for dessert. We owe a deep debt of gratitude to Marilyn and Matt for their hospitality. We are also grateful to Mary for her wise and entertaining counsel.

Questionnaire from the Education Ministry
In years past, the Adult Education Committee compiled areas of interest that parishioners had expressed they would like to have addressed in classes, events, and opportunities for further study. These areas of interests were centered around themes or content options. It is time again to put to the parishioners a questionnaire about what they would like to have offered and the various times to best schedule these offerings. Here are the categories which can be expanded.
Thank you for your participation in this survey. Please turn your sheet into the box in Stevenson Hall or email your request to Lauriehogen@gmail.com or contact Laurie at 917-621-7976.

White Socks! White Socks!
We heard that there was a need for new white socks for people who go to the FISH Food Pantry to pick up food. Socks for men and women can be donated from our parishioners as they enter the narthex of our church. A barrel will be right inside the front door, in the left corner. Donations will be delivered monthly by any one of our St. Patrick's members, who volunteer at FISH in Santa Rosa.
In the past, St. Patrick's donated socks for people in need, and then came Covid! We are now back in business, and you have an opportunity to donate this coming Sunday, April 3rd.
It's a great day, when we can help someone put their best foot forward, in a new pair of socks!!

Blessing Bag Ministry
Due April 10th
Our March Blessing Bag collection was very successful, with 100 of them delivered to Redwood Gospel Mission. The next opportunity to offer these to homeless and hungry people will be on or before Palm Sunday, April 10. You are welcome to drop them off at my house, 8399 Oakmont Drive, SR 95409 or leave them in the white box in the narthex. There’s a small handout in front of the box that describes what goes into each bag. A short word of encouragement with the name of our church is nice to include if you wish. Thank you to everyone who is helping with this important ministry. You are a blessing to our community. Betsy Randolph
