Caroga Arts Receives $1 Million NYSCA Grant

Caroga Arts is honored to be one of two organizations receiving the largest gift of $1 million towards our Capital Campaign for the construction of a new, state of the art amphitheater at Sherman's.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced yesterday 116 Capital Project grants awarded through the New York State Council on the Arts. These grants reflect the breadth and depth of New York State’s art sector with projects that will spur economic development, job growth, and access to arts and culture experiences in all 10 regions. Master plan rendering of the future Sherman’s Park created by Lacey Thaler Reilly Wilson Architecture & Preservation.

The Caroga Arts Collective plans to construct a state-of-the-art amphitheater in Sherman’s Park that will provide superb acoustics and be able to accommodate an 80-person orchestra and a stage house that will provide backstage support. When creating the design, Lacey Thaler Reilly Wilson Architecture & Preservation celebrated the views of Caroga Lake and Adirondack foothills by creating a warm, wood design that incorporates classical style elements with a sleek, contemporary, and elegant form.

Additional renderings, project details, and information about the capital campaign will be released later this spring.

Other performances included a sold out show with saxophonist Eddie Barbash and concerts in Cobleskill and Saratoga Springs.
A gift to the Caroga Arts Collective provides vital support as we continue to expand our programming and maintain our commitment to fostering relationships among our artists and the community. We hope you will consider joining us in our mission to reimagining the Caroga experience through the power of the arts!
