Dear Parent/Carer,
Please read this important e-mail as there has been a significant update to covid isolation processes impacting both staff and students at Sir Joh Hunt. This follows the latest statement ( next steps for living with COVID-19) from the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Sajid Javid, on Tuesday 29 March.
The DfE have now provided guidance to schools which will come into effect today, Friday 1 st April.
Please see below an overview of the changes as well as a guide on the impact:
- children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can go back to school, college or childcare when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend
- adults with a positive COVID-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice will be 3 days.
- regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting. Therefore, settings will no longer be able to distribute or order additional test kits.
What does this mean?
We will be expecting all year groups back on Monday 4th April for the last few days of term.
Staff and students no longer need to complete regular lateral flow tests, and as a school we are not allowed to distribute tests. We will only be able to implement regular testing if advised by Public Health.
I appreciate this is a significant change in guidance, however we will continue with our entry and exit routines which we will follow for the foreseeable future.
