Seeking Online Courses that Address FCS Teacher Education Standards

The National Partnership to Recruit, Prepare, and Support Human Sciences/Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Educators hosts an Online Course Repository for FCS content courses that meet the National FCS Teacher Education Standards.  The Repository includes information about courses titles, course descriptions, semester credit hours, schedule of offerings, and a contact person at each institution.  Every state has licensure requirements for FCS educators, but at least 11 states are no longer offering some of the licensure courses or programs needed for FCS educators. Also, there are some universities that cannot offer FCS content courses. The courses could satisfy licensure requirements addressing the following focus areas: Culinary arts, hospitality, and tourism; Education and training; Food science and nutrition; Health management and wellness; Housing and interior design;  Human/child development and family relations; Personal and family finance; and Textiles, apparel and retailing.

Universities planning to offer one or more online courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level during the 2022 – 2024 calendar years that meet one or more of the FCS Teacher Education Standards are encouraged to submit the courses for review by May 1, 2022.   Click here to review the online course application.  Courses that best meet repository needs and application criteria, as determined by a review panel, will be awarded $150 per semester credit hour for posting in the Repository.  An additional $150 per course will be awarded for courses that are cross listed for undergraduate and graduate credit.  Courses will be posted in the repository and funds awarded by June 30, 2022.  For more information about the Online Course Repository, contact Dr. Jane Walker, Project Consultant, or Dr. Jan Bowers, Project Director.
