WHISK(E)Y SOCIAL, TASTING AND DINNER - REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
The Houston Convention will be here before we know it! We have missed gathering with our Rotary family and can't wait to see everyone we have corresponded with in the past year and meet many of you face-to-face for the first time. For many of us, the Convention is like a "family reunion" - it's so good to see old and new dear friends!
The Fellowship has two evening socials planned (they will be identical in menu, BUT the whiskey tastings will change). We are offering this on two dates in the hopes that you will be able to join us for one of them – the Convention is jam-packed with events both day and evening, we hope the Whisk(e)y DRAM Social, Tasting and Dinner will be one of your “must do” items.
One thing of note - the tasting selections will NOT be chosen until late April. This is due to supply and demand issues that restaurants and bars continue to face during the Pandemic. The selections will be top-notch, we can assure you, as we have some very discerning palates in our clan of Whiskey drinkers! We will also have a whisk(e)y expert joining us that evening to guide us through the tastings.

LOCATION/TRANSPORTATION: Transportation will NOT be provided to the restaurant. The location is approximately 6 miles from the Convention Center. Please allow plenty of time to contend with rush hour traffic in Houston.

The Fellowship will be located in Booth 520 in the House of Friendship. We have a fantastic location this year, near the Social Media area. Typically, ALL of the Rotary drinking fellowships are located next to each other, but we will be the most lively one, for sure! We will be sampling Texas whiskies throughout the Convention at our booth. Stop by to say hello and share a dram with us!
We are looking for volunteers to help in our booth - currently we have Lars Gregersen from Aarup, Denmark and Ralph Menzel from Washington, D.C. If you are interested in helping, please let us know!

DISTILLERIES IN HOUSTON, TEXAS

With more than 130 spirits distilleries in the state (including whiskey, vodka, gin, and more), Texas now sits among the top five states in number of distilleries alongside California, New York, Washington, and Colorado.
Although some Texas distilleries are brand new and others have achieved national success, there are clear threads that unite them – hard work, commitment to a hand-crafted product, and desire to be the best at what they do. In addition to making great products, many facilities open their doors to share their process with local fans.
We thought you might enjoy learning more about a few in the Houston area. We plan to feature some of them with tastings at our House of Friendship Booth.

As of today, 8th Wonder offers an 8x Distilled Vodka, a Hop-Infused Gin, a Silver Rum, and a hand-selected Whiskey, with the goal to soon produce other spirits. Our vodka is incredibly clean and smooth, and our gin is citrus-forward and very approachable. Our rum is bold and aromatic, and is perfectly suited for tiki-style cocktails. ROTARY CLUB OF MEDIA, PENNSYLVANIA WHISKEY RAFFLE

The Rotary Club of Media is hosting their Whiskey Raffle again this year. It was a very successful event for them last year - congratulations for a job well done! The event sold out, so if you are interested in participating, don't delay in purchasing your tickets. Please print out the application form, complete it and mail it to the address shown along with your check. Pennsylvania does not permit online payment for raffle tickets.
You do not have to be a member of a Rotary Club to play and we hope you will invite other friends and family. Game winners will be drawn and confirmed live, online by revealing the number of the Raffle ticket AND the name of the winner. Once tickets are purchased there are no refunds. Online Raffle ticket sales will close on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 8:00 pm. to allow time to receive payment by mail.
The winner will receive a certificate for the basket or the cash equivalent. If the winner chooses the basket, it will be shipped to the winner. (Void where prohibited by law.)
