Future Bingo
A quarter of the year is gone, and it's time to take stock of where we are and what we want to accomplish.

What's startling is how much has changed since the beginning of the year. This is made clear in this week's image of 2022 predictions, laid out in a Bingo-card format.

Presenting your ideas in an unusual — and fun— format greatly increases your chances of your message breaking through the barriers of today's digital visual clutter.

And if you'd like to make your own Bingo cards, I've added a resource where you can do so for free. I'd love to hear how you might use these. My mind is already racing with the possibilities.
We're welcoming more new subscribers this week. Welcome Fran, Marsha, and other newcomers. I'm glad you're here — welcome to the community of folks who are passionate about visuals (including visual thinking, visual storytelling, visual everything).

As those who've been here for a while know, each issue is filled with 3 things related to Visual IP*. It's designed to quickly inform, then get you on your way. In each issue you'll find an inspiring quote, an image, and a link to an essay or resource.

* Visual IP (intellectual property) = proprietary frameworks, diagrams, and drawings based on your ideas, which help you explain, influence, and persuade

And if you're reading this from an issue that was forwarded, you can sign up to get your very own each week.

Future Bingo

Back in January 2022, the folks at Visual Capitalist sifted through more than 300 articles, white papers, interviews, and podcasts to distill what experts predicted for 2022.

The image is an effective use of the bingo meme of 25 squares in a grid, and five colors. Green for financial; gold for tech; blue for economic dynamics; red for supply chain and industrial; pink for geopolitical factors.

Two squares stand out in particular. The central square (often a freebie in most bingo games) is a given: increased volatility. No surprises there as we started 2022. Also, the lower right square — geopolitical tensions — were dotted with pink, but we didn't fully appreciate how much this element would impact the rest of the board within just a few weeks.

How might you use the iconic grid of a Bingo card in your own work? What message of yours might be appropriately matched to this visual format?

Resource
Create Your Own Bingo Cards

Here's a simple web-based app that lets you make your own Bingo cards for free. You can create customized cards in three sizes — 9, 16, or 25 squares. Plus, you can choose the words that go into each square. Choose from 16 different templates, ranging from holiday themes such as Halloween or Christmas to vintage or modern styles.

Play can happen either online or on printed cards. It's free for up to 30 players, or you can pay $10 for 100 cards; $20 for 250 cards; or $30 for 500 cards. For virtual games, you set up the board and then are given a URL for play. (Participants are assigned a random card.)

The appeal of buzzword bingo in endless business meetings is legendary. Now you can create your own card game to play. If you do, I want to know the details!
Thanks for joining me. May you find fun in your work this week.

As always, if there are others you think might enjoy these types of ideas and resources, please forward this on.

Until next time: Make something happen!
