March is finally over, and we can start planning our spring activities in earnest. Are you ready? Our first in-person meeting will be on April 21st at Unitarian Place. Just to be on the safe side, we will continue to require a mask and that attendees come with proof of vaccination. We are planning to “zoom” this session as well, so if all goes well, you could still join us from home. Therefore, be mindful that for this meeting announcement below, you only need to “register” if you are planning to attend via Zoom. We are looking forward to welcoming many of you at our new location.

From Monoculture to Agriculture in 3 Weeks
They say timing is everything and this certainly applies to vegetable growing. With a little bit of planning, preparation and your favorite calendar in hand, you can turn a mediocre harvest into a season to remember. Susie will share some of her tips that have helped convert the front lawn of her midtown Kingston house into a productive foodscape.

Year of the Garden
You’re invited to join in the fun and “Live the Garden Life” during the Year of the Garden 2022, a celebration of everything garden and gardening related in Canada.

New Activities:
- All Canadians are invited to share a photo of their garden and a marker will be added to the map of our country. You can select which type of garden you are celebrating: a pandemic garden, a therapeutic garden, or a climate action garden, or maybe you showcase native plants or edibles. Or maybe your garden is an expression of your creativity? Take a look and read about each entry to select the one that fits your garden best. Click here for details
- It has been mentioned before that we are encouraged to Plant Red. Here’s the suggested motivation: Plant Red to pay tribute to lives lost, or honour frontline workers during the pandemic. Or Plant Red as an expression of your Canadian Garden Pride in 2022. Click here for details and to register
A red garden can also be one of the Celebration Gardens mentioned above. But, if you were to plant just one red plant, it may come in handy for our own flower display later this spring. Think about it!
