Reenergized and kayak!

A paddle host fun day of practice

Explore North Coast held their second Paddle Host Training on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 9 am in Trinidad. A sunny day welcomed the paddlers as they gathered together. It was few hours past high tide, the water had a mixed swell, and there was a light 2 to 4 mph breeze. Hosted by Mike and Larry, around 15 ENC kayakers applied what they practiced previously from Big Lagoon to the different water dynamics of Trinidad — bracing and leaning, paddling backwards, and combining different strokes to maneuver their boats around each other and the wash rocks. Towards the end of the workshop the group practiced assisted rescues. With such positive response and participation ENC hopes to have more practice events in the future.

But there’s more! One more Paddle Host Training for this spring is planned for Saturday, April 23 in Trinidad. Mike and Larry will focus on a few skills that they were not able to cover and practice during the last workshop. See more details below and on ENC's calendar.

  • Estimate of how many people intend to be there
  • Figure out the different types of paddling areas people are interested in experiencing
