This Month's Charity
For April I will be supporting Save the Children. I give a percentage from the sale of every doll to a not-for-profit organisation of my choice. This month I will donate 5% from the sale price of each doll to help Save the Children Australia with the wonderful work that they do for disadvantaged children worldwide.

DIY Tips and Ideas
My mum's knitted clothing makes the dolls' arms look more lifelike and in proportion. It gives them a warm and cuddly appearance that makes them look less plastic and a bit more fleshed out. Barbie dolls with their wider shoulders, I have dressed in v-neck knitted tops with raglan sleeves which help to minimise their shoulders, whereas the Bratz dolls' jumpers with shoulder seems helps to give the illusion of wider shoulders. My talented mum and I work together to decide what styles of clothing work best on different dolls and this month my mum has created some new styles for the two Barbie dolls I have restyled.

Family Life
Recently we took a family trip to Maria Island, an island of the east coast of Tasmania. Going across on the ferry and carting our luggage to our room in a trolley was the start of an adventurous three days with our two girls. We walked to the fossil cliffs, swam at a beautiful beach, discovered sea-life in rockpools - but the highlight was the wildlife, the wombats in particular!

I recently also accompanied Jemima's kinder excursion to the Marine Discovery Centre. Each student was allowed to set up their own mini 'aquarium' in the tub by taking creatures from the touch pools. Here is Jemima's tub. Can you see her sea star, decorator crab, and sea snail? Of course these creatures where not to be taken home - they were returned to the touch pools after taking this photo. I loved being allowed to join in on this school excursion - something that has not been possible for the last few years since covid.

Please let me know what type of news items you would like to receive each month  - DIY tips, sales information, stories from buyers and their dolls, a day in the life of a doll crafter etc. I'd really appreciate your feedback!

All the best,

Sonia Singh
