On March 31st, UNHP covered a range of affordable housing and financial services issues with a special focus on student loans, FAFSA forms, and education finances. Two financial advisors from Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners joined the live zoom webinar and shared information about student loan deferments, what to do if you have fallen behind in your payments, and an overview of budgeting for debt.

New York City Tenant Support Unit (TSU)
The NYC Tenant Support Unit (TSU) offers a range of eviction prevention services and provides information and advice about rent subsidies, housing court, landlord harassment and tenants rights. TSU will be offering in-person information at 49 West Tremont Avenue on April 14 and April 28th. If you are in rental arrears, its very important you act now, funds for ERAP will reopen soon. More details to come as these become available.

A credit union is coming to the Bronx, in a new collaborative initiative between four non-profit groups, UNHP, Whedco, Nos Quedamos, and Banana Kelly, and the Lower East Side People's Federal Credit Union. The LES People's Credit Union is a non-profit financial cooperative that was organized in 1986 that promotes economic justice and opportunity in NYC neighborhoods.
On April 14th & the 28th, come check out the van and the services offered by the soon-to-be Bronx People's Federal Credit Union (FCU). This mobile branch will offer the following services in the Bronx:

Additionally, there are units available in other boroughs, including 167-171 Chrystie St Apartments in Manhattan. Eligible incomes range from $24,789 - $139,620.

UNHP works with many local banks, credit unions, and providers of financial services that are seeking full-time and part-time tellers, and other financial associates. Most require an HS diploma or equivalent financial experience. Apple Bank, Ridgewood Savings, and New York Community Bank are just three of the institutions that have reached out to us.
