Dear Parents and Guardians,
Last Friday our students participated in Walking for Education. The purpose for this event is to raise funds for tuition assistance to help ensure all families have the gift of a Catholic Education. We are aware of the financial challenges that families face and the sacrifices they make to send their children to a Catholic school.
When my son was in Kindergarten we could not afford Catholic school and there were no funds to help us. I know that my son would have benefited greatly from a Catholic education and feel sad that I was unable to provide this for him. Because of this, I have always insisted that no child will be turned away because of financial restraints.
In the speech Pope Benedict gave to Catholic educators on the subject of Catholic
schools he said, Their(Catholic Schools) long-term sustainability must be assured.
Indeed, everything possible must be done, in cooperation with the wider community,
to ensure that they (Catholic Schools) are accessible to people of all social and
economic strata. No child should be denied his or her right to an education in faith,
which in turn nurtures the soul of a nation.
St. Mary’s Catholic School is a family in every sense of the word and we must take care of each other (to the best of our ability.) We would like to ensure that all families seeking a quality Catholic education, for their child, have the opportunity to realize this gift.
As of today we have raised $5,6661 of the goal of $8,000. Our goal amount would help four students with partial tuition. It seems like a large amount but is really just a drop in the bucket of what we provide our families in need. If you have not turned in your pledges please do so by May 6th. Help us help our St. Mary’s Catholic School family, please.
Please mark your calendars for the Parish Festival on May 1st. Because this event will be running late into the evening, and because it will be located throughout our school campus, we have been given permission to take Monday, May 2nd, off of school. The cleaning of the property will take place on Monday.
God bless,
Mrs. Wyles
