Guided Hike on Roosevelt Island
More information here!

WalkArlington, in partnership with the National Park Service, presents a guided hike on Theodore Roosevelt Island with Park Ranger Janet Greene. Go on a history and nature walk, covering Theodore Roosevelt’s life, legacy, the overall story of the island, habitats, and flora and fauna.

What To Know
This hike will be done mostly on natural surface trails with some rocks, tree roots, and uneven surfaces. Wear comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots and be prepared for mud and muck.

The amount of time this tour will take depends on a variety of factors. We have allowed two hours but may complete the ranger-led portion by 12:30.

WalkArlington will provide a light, nutritious snack and bottled water that hikers can take with them. You are encouraged to bring additional water. Please note that there will be a bathroom break mid-way through the hike.

To ensure an enjoyable and safe experience for all, group size for this hike will be much smaller than a typical WalkArlington walking event, so if you are interested, don’t delay registering.

Getting There
Theodore Roosevelt Island is accessible via a medium length (20-30 min.), downhill walk from the Rosslyn Metro. It is accessible via bike and the Mount Vernon Trail. There is also a Capital Bikeshare station on the island. Visit CarFreeAtoZ for trip planning information.
