Did You Know?
Koinonia is participating in the upcoming April Foods Day food drive with Grand Valley Interfaith Network (GVIN). During Sundays in April (10th, 17th), you may pick up a brown grocery bag with a list of requested items at Koinonia. You might even pick up a couple of bags and do this with a friend. You do not need to purchase all of the items included on the list.
PLEASE KEEP THE LIST OF ITEMS ON THE BAG AS THIS IS THE ONlY WAY WE CAN IDENTIFY THE AGENCY TO WHICH IT WILL BE DIRECTED. Filled bags can be returned to Koinonia on or before April 17 or can be dropped of at the east parking lot of Downtown Vineyard Church at 5th and Grand on Saturday, April 23 from 9 to noon. If you choose this delivery, please enter the parking lot from 5th St. You may choose which organization to donate to when you pick up your bag at Koinonia:
  • The Food Pantry (for those who live in their vehicles or carry a backpack)
  • Grand Valley Catholic Outreach
  • Child and Migrant Services
  • Clifton Christian Church Food and Clothing
  • Community Food Bank
Koinonia will be hosting a "Help Light the Night" music concert which is a fundraiser organized by high school students across the valley to raise money to provide solar lamps to underdeveloped countries. Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. We hope you will come support this important cause.

Are you looking for a legitimate way to donate money to help the people of Ukraine? Below are three highly-rated organizations with experience and success in their missions, and you can click on the underlined links below for more information:

In February, Janie White shared the quilt block that she made to represent Koinonia in the Church of the Brethren Association for the Arts. Each congregation is allowed to submit two quilt blocks, and our second lovely quilt block is shown here, created by Diane Mather. Our blocks will be combined with others from across the nation to make wall hangings that will be auctioned off to raise money for hunger projects. Thanks again to both Janie and Diane for representing Koinonia in this important fund-raiser.

Western Slope Faith Leaders of Together Colorado are offering monthly book discussion groups on banned books. Koinonia will be hosting the next book discussion featuring Caste on Monday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Prayers and Concerns

Please pause to hold in your heart the prayers and concerns of our beloved community:

  • For the family and friends of Howard Revie who recently passed away.  (The Revies have visited Koinonia numerous times over the years and are close friends of the Van Camps. Many of you know Howard's wife as "Miss Diane," Haley and Natalie's dance instructor for many years.)
  • For the safe travel of friends and family.
  • For those who are ill and those who are facing the end of their lives - may they find peace and comfort.
  • For food insecure individuals.
  • For strength to be beacons of peace and justice.

You are invited to share the circumstances that are touching your heart in recent days. Please contact Bonnie (administrator@koinoniagj.org) or Ellen (director@koinoniagj.org) if you have joys, concerns, and/or prayer requests that you would like to share with the community.
