The Coconino County Sustainable Building Program is partnering with the City of Flagstaff and City of Sedona on a free workshop for building professionals about cold weather heat pumps. Heat pumps are a high-efficiency means of heating and cooling a home, and new technology has improved their efficiency in cold climates. The City of Flagstaff is offering a financial incentive of $300-400 for installation of a heat pump in place of an existing furnace because heat pumps are the most efficient electric heating method and electrification of homes is a key step in transitioning to renewable energy. 180 residents registered for the last heat pump workshop for homeowners, showing that interest in this new technology is growing. Learn more about this viable alternative to standard furnaces at this in-person workshop!
