Cobra's
Weekly Round Up

this week.

We travel to Bunyip this week in what will be another tough day. Bunyip and Cora Lynn have had some stirring battles over the years and we expect another great contest in all grades

last week.

seniors.

On a cool cloudy day with a misty rain a big crowd enjoyed an enthralling contest between two well coached sides with lots of talent. It was a game full of momentum swings with the usual “what ifs” that accompany close results. Congratulations must be extended towards Phillip Island who continue to be a formidable club and hopefully next time we play them the contest will be just a close with maybe a change of the result.

Our best players in a very even team effort included Billy Thomas who had an enthralling contest all day against Cam Pederson, Heath Briggs and Chris Johnson tried their hearts out in the midfield and were strong in the contest, Dillan Bass in his first game as a defender showed strength and the ability to break through the lines and we welcomed Rylan Smith back to the side with another game from half back. The signs were good that our young team will develop and improve through the season.

development team.

Cobra development's first game of the year was competitive against Phillip Island. We just could not make the most of our opportunities late in the game.

After a strong start in the first quarter led by James Mackenzie our mid field players gave us plenty of drive however our ball handling let us down at crucial stages and we didn't capitalize. In the second quarter Phillip Island took control and our defence worked hard to keep them out. The third quarter was a tight tussle Kyah Cronin was rock solid in defence and our forwards worked hard in the sluggish conditions. We had a sniff and responded in the last quarter Dylan Ross gave us some drive off half back and Josh Wilson went forward and looked dangerous but it wasn't to be.

We look forward to this week against a strong Bunyip team that is always competitive in Development.

thirds.

Our under 18’s side came up against a fantastic football team & club today. It was a great contest between to young teams who should both feel proud of their efforts.

Our team started slowly and couldn’t capitalize on early shots, but after 1/4 time, we were able to get the game on our terms a bit more and we took advantage.

There were great contributions across all areas of the field and the boys really showed their strength & willingness to work for each other. Our best players rotated through the mid field and around the ground and included Ryder Milne, Jett Edwards, Owen Hartley,  Tom Esposito, Toby Goswell and Caelan Addis

Congratulations to all the boys, & also to our leaders for the season, Jett Edwards & Ryder Milne as joint captains with Logan Fox and Owen Hartley as vice captains.

It’s just the start of the journey now, so onto Bunyip.
