Wildflowers - Let Them Bloom
Black-eyed Susans like these are a special discovery on Spring Walks.
Its that time of year again when a wide variety of native wildflowers begin showing off their beauty and providing food to pollinators and wildlife along our roadsides. We encourage you to Let Them Bloom – mow around them or at least save a patch where they can live out their cycle while providing benefits to both people (because they are beautiful to look at) and nature.

Rudbeckia hirta, commonly called Black-eyed Susan, is a North American flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to Eastern and Central North America.

24 Hours of Giving April 26-27 and
DOUBLE-TRIPLE Donation Matches
The Giving Challenge is an exciting 24-hour online giving event that connects 700+ nonprofit organizations with passionate donors and community members to support diverse causes and create enduring impact in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties.

Since 2012, the Giving Challenge has acted as a catalyst for connection and provided more than $59 million in unrestricted funding over seven challenges. During the 2020 Giving Challenge, in a time of unprecedented need, our community reached out with a remarkable outpouring of support, raising $19.1 million.

The Giving Challenge is hosted by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, with giving strengthened by The Patterson Foundation.

From noon on April 26 to noon on April 27, The Patterson Foundation will again match all donations made between $25 and $100 per donor, per nonprofit.

There will be no limit on the number of individual matches a nonprofit organization can receive.

We hope you’ll plan to help us continue to acquire and protect our neighborhood natural environment by donating on this special day! Click the link below Noon to Noon April 26-27 to donate:
