Welcome back to our monthly E-Newsletter!

As our Lenten season comes to a close and we approach this most sacred time of Holy Week, we begin this month's E-Newsletter with some fantastic resources from members of our clergy to help you during this solemn week.

First is a fascinating insight into the striking Stations of the Cross at the Hidden Gem church in Manchester. Led by our Episcopal Vicar for Formation, Fr Paul Daly, this online series uses reflections written by Emeritus Bishop of Salford, Bishop Brain, to guide us in prayer. It also features a beautiful performance of "At the Cross her Station Keeping" from the Choral Scholars of Salford Cathedral.

Next, we invite you to pray with our Youth Ministry Team along Christ's Journey to the Cross. This seven-day series takes a closer look at some of the key characters from St Luke's Gospel that appear in the final hours of Jesus' life.

We also have updates from Caritas Diocese of Salford on their work to support people affected by the war in Ukraine, in addition to the latest news on the Universal Synod, and our diocesan pilgrimages to Walsingham and Lourdes.

With other news, resources, and key dates for your diary, we hope this month's E-News will be a valuable read!

We wish you a prayerful Holy Week and a very happy Easter!
Online Stations of the Cross
from The Hidden Gem

In the days leading up to Easter, the Diocese of Salford will be presenting a digital version of the Stations of the Cross using the striking paintings from The Hidden Gem Church, Mulberry Street, Manchester.

The Stations will give people the opportunity to pray and meditate on Christ’s journey to the cross through the powerful reflections written by Bishop Brain.

A new station is added to our
website, Facebook and Instagram pages each day, or you can watch the whole series so far by clicking the link below.

Journey to the Cross:
One-minute reflections on characters from Christ's Passion
Follow in the steps of Our Lord this Holy Week as our Youth Ministry team leads us in thoughtful reflections on the final walk of Jesus.

Each minute-long reflection takes a closer look at different characters from St Luke's Gospel - from Peter denying Jesus, to the two criminals that were crucified with Christ - to help immerse us in scripture this Holy Week.

Ukraine Crisis

As the war in Ukraine continues, our diocesan social action charity Caritas Diocese of Salford is working hard to provide vital support to those in need.

Through its partnership with
Caritas Internationalis, Caritas Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, and Bulgaria, as well as associated organisations such as CAFOD and the DEC Appeal, Caritas Salford has helped to direct critical aid to people in Ukraine and those displaced across Europe.

Now, as the UK prepares to welcome refugees, the charity is busily preparing to provide accommodation and additional care and support packages for people arriving in our own diocese.

To find out more about how you can support those affected by the war both at home and across Europe, please click the link below.

Synod update
We'd like to extend our thanks and gratitude to everyone who has taken part in the first stage of the Universal Synod. We received a fantastic total of more than 1500 responses from people of all ages and backgrounds from right across our diocese. We greatly value your input and care for the future of our Church.

The responses have been examined and compiled into a diocesan report, which Bishop John will now send on to the Bishops Conference of England and Wales, who will then discern on the responses from all dioceses in England and Wales. Another report will then be created and sent on to the Vatican's Synod Office.

Our diocesan response will be available to read in the near future. Please check the Synod page on our website for any updates and we look forward to working with you again on the next stage of our journey.
