Nice to Know

CSU, Chico's Center for Healthy Communities (CHC) has released additional exploratory research on how food insecurity impacts academic performance and overall student wellbeing.
This update represents an expansion of CHC's basic needs’ student success survey to three other campuses.

The Chico State Basic Needs Pilot Study Website (link)  is already being used to understand the state of food insecurity on our campuses and is a great place for researchers to obtain baseline data and to start research collaboration conversations with CHC about these topics.

The data collection and analysis represent a collaboration between graduate students, staff, and faculty from the CSU, Chico Center for Healthy Communities, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Department of Nutrition and Food Science, and the Department of Political Science.

The reporting website development was led by Chico State undergraduate statistics major and CSC2 student researcher Derek Helms.
