From the PHS & Homeless Committee:

In March, we had 7 burglaries in Mar Vista.

Here are some recommendations by Senior Lead Officers, Karwon Villery and Adrian Acosta:

  • Keep bushes and trees in front of your house trimmed.  Overgrown foliage can provide a hiding spot for a burglar, as then they cannot be seen from a passing car.

  • Lock your side gates.  Make it difficult for the burglar to gain access to your backyard.  Most homes are entered from the rear.

  • Security cameras are helpful, please make them visible.  A security sign in your front yard is also a plus.

  • Get to know your neighbors – good communication as to what you see that may be suspicious is a good strategy.

  • Keep trash/recycling bins away from fences or gates. These bins are sturdy and may be used as a "step stool" to jump over a fence/gate.

If you have any questions, you may contact our Senior Lead Officer, Karwon Villery, at 38717@lapd.online.

Come and let us know your Point of View. We hope to see all of you at our meetings in April.

MVCC is here for our stakeholders to communicate the needs of our neighborhood to city officials, and to encourage MVCC residents to work together to keep our neighborhood a great place to live.

Attend our meetings, meet your neighbors and see how, by working together, we can ensure that Mar Vista is a neighborhood that we are all proud of. Attend, participate and have a voice in addressing the issues that are important to YOU.

Please visit MarVista.org to Find Your Zone, check the Calendar for upcoming meetings, get to know more about your Neighborhood Council, and discover how you would like to participate in helping Mar Vista!
