It is with sadness but warm wishes that we announce the retirement of our Deputy Highway Superintendent, Ron Senecal. We would like to thank him for his dedication to the Town of Dryden. He will be greatly missed!

In this time, we would like to introduce our new Deputy Highway Superintendent, Mike Hall. Mike has been serving the Town of Dryden for many years in the Dryden Fire Department.

ADVISORY BOARD UPDATES.

Agricultural Advisory Committee

Springtime means green grass, blossoms, and warmer temperatures. Some of the first fields that you will see greening up are normally fall planted "winter" wheat, rye, or triticale. The Farmers plant them in the fall on fields after harvest, (weather conditions permitting), as they help hold the soil from erosion over the winter and spring runoffs. They use leftover nutrients, like nitrogen that would leach out of the soil, locking it in the root system and plant. The farmer may just till the crop under and plant the field to another crop in the spring, or they may harvest it as a forage crop (aka hay) or grain and straw. Even if they do harvest the fields before planting again, half to two-thirds of the plants are in the root system underground, decaying and slowly releasing nutrients for the next crop. So enjoy these first green fields of Spring!

The Agricultural Advisory Committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the Month at 7:30pm. Check the Town of Dryden website calendar for meeting details and updates.

Dryden Recreation and Youth Commission

The 2022 Dryden Youth Community Needs Assessment is ready and your feedback is requested! Please scan the QR code below or click HERE to start the survey. The Youth Commission thanks you for taking the time to provide your thoughts, concerns, and ideas.

The Dryden Recreation and Youth Commission meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 7pm. Check the Town of Dryden website calendar for meeting details and updates.

Planning Board

The Planning Board held a public hearing for the Dryden 2045 Comprehensive Plan. About 20 people attended in person, and another dozen by Zoom. Comments were mixed, and more comments were coming in through March 31st at the dryden2045.org website. The Planning Board will be reviewing comments in April and figuring out the next steps. The Comprehensive Plan still has to go through more review and the Town Board has to consider it, so there will be more - and more opportunity to comment - ahead.

The Planning Board meets on the 4th Thursday of the month at 6pm. Check the Town of Dryden website calendar for meeting details and updates.
