April ADIS22: Energizing Investment in the Solar and Renewable Sector
Join us on April 27, at 8AM PST, for April ADIS22: "Energizing Investment in the Solar and Renewable Sector."
Solar and renewable energies are rising as a commercially viable resource across Africa, being cheaper than coal, diesel, or gas. Recognizing that fossil fuel energies tend to be historically concentrated across the developed world, there is a huge opportunity to leapfrog energy infrastructure in Africa through decentralized solar grids that accommodate and optimize for renewables. This session explores models of effective renewable energy output across Africa and opportunities for future expansion of investment in solar and renewable energies.

Skoll World Forum Ecosystem Day 2022
According to a 2019 report by the McKinsey Global Institute, women account for more than 50% of Africa’s combined population, but generated only 33% of the continent’s collective GDP in 2018. These indicators point to stagnation in gender parity in Africa, already behind compared to indicators of gender equality worldwide. Investment in human capital, creation of economic opportunities, and leveraging technology will be key to opening doors to women.
Despite the widening gaps from the pandemic, women have adapted and persevered to support their workplaces, communities, and families. How are women paving the path forward? In what ways are women continuing to make significant strides in the face of challenge? How can we better support women and invest in women-led organizations? This session examines how women continue to lead the way in reimagining the future of social entrepreneurship, healthcare, education, and other areas.
