Thoughts with Pastor Matt

One of the pitfalls in our faith is that we can become "Check the Box" believers.

Went to church this week - check
Made a donation this week - check
Looked up a Bible verse - check
Prayed at dinner - check

But Jesus is more interested in who we are than what we do. How do we respond to others in our hearts and thoughts? Jesus wants to transform our actions but also our inner being. He wants our whole selves, not just our nice actions.

Ask yourself - "Am I falling into a pattern of checking the boxes and not fully transforming my whole self into who Jesus is calling me to be?"

Pastor Matt invites you to join us for our new message series for lent called "Who Do You Say I Am?"
Join us each Sunday at 10:30 am either in person or live online.

Who Do You Say I Am?

Many people in Jesus' day wondered who he was and had lots of different ideas about who he might be. So much so that at one point, Jesus asked his disciples, "Who do the people say I am?" and then, "Who do you say I am?" The truth is that many people today still wonder who Jesus was. Lent is a time to focus on Jesus, His life and teachings, and especially on the meaning of his death. We do this because we can't fully understand or celebrate Jesus' resurrection on Easter unless we first understand who He was and why he died. So with this series, we'll look at who people in Jesus' time said He was at points and, more importantly, at who He truly is. And as we do, each of us should ask, "Who do I say Jesus is?" Some of us may be considering this question for the first time; for others, it's a chance to think through who Jesus is more deeply as we seek to know Him more.

March 27 "Jesus Our Savior"

During Jesus' life, very few people called Him "Savior," and yet that's what Jesus is. Jesus laid down His life to save us from sin and death. So, soon after His death, as people began to understand what He had done, His followers began to call him Savior!
