Artist opportunities!

Member Show
We're all looking forward to a great turnout for the show this year.  Please remember, if you plan to participate in the show, AAG membership dues must be paid by April 30th!

The AAG Gallery has a few openings which need to be filled ASAP.  2 artists are needed for the August 4 - September 9 slot and one artist is needed for the December 8 to January 20, 2023 slot.  This is a wonderful opportunity so take advantage of it!  Each artist basically has 2 walls in the gallery to fill so it's not so daunting.

You must be a member of both AAG and ACA to exhibit.  Work should be relatively new and not previously shown in ACA.  If you exhibited last year, you have to wait to exhibit till 2023 to exhibit again.

Please contact me at celestemalinowski@yahoo.com

Artist Critique
Have your work reviewed to receive constructive feedback or help.  You can bring 1-2 pieces of your work per month.  The next session is Tuesday April 12th at the Family Y conference room from 10-12. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

Artist Display
If you have art to display and sell, please remember these venues allow AAG members to exhibit (based on availability).  You can inquire by reaching out to the venue and/or contact person:

Hill (The Stables) - Catherine Ryder
Kitfox Dentistry - Judy Adamick
ACA Guild Gallery - Celeste Malinowski
Aiken Y - Pamela Moore

The Family "Y" only has one month open for displaying your art.  If you're interested please email your request to pamelamooreart7@aol.com or
arbutus.studio.3432@gmail.com
The next exhibit will feature artists Carol Sue Roberts and Sharon Taylor Padgett.  This will begin with a reception on March 31st from 6-8pm.

Carol Sue Roberts
"I am primarily a still life painter. (Note that I used the word painter, not artist. I consider it presumptuous to call myself an artist). Silver, brass, copper, or other shiny objects appear frequently in my paintings. I am fascinated by the effect of light and reflections. All of my still life paintings are from set ups in my studio. The light source may be artificial, or from the north window in my studio, but the source is always from the left. Often rotting fruit or tired flowers struggle while I complete a painting. My favorite painting of a pear on a silver plate is one from nineteen years ago. The pears time on earth had expired (for consuming), but the colors were wonderful".

Carol is the winner of numerous awards and her paintings are in collections internationally.  She has studied extensively with many artists.  She is also a retired organist, but is currently volunteering as an interim organist at All Saints Anglican Church In Aiken.
Sharon Taylor Padgett
Sharon has been painting and teaching for more than 40 years. Originally from Allendale, SC, she grew up in Florida and was influenced by her tropical surroundings. The way light falls on a subject – whether landscape, still life or people is what inspires her art.

Painting in oils and acrylics, her subjects and step-by-step style of teaching is what defines her as a painter.
Sharon studied art at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Fl., and from various accomplished painters including the late Livio Valentini, Bea Kulhke and Zita Mellon. She has taken many workshops throughout the years gaining knowledge of techniques in painting and
in turn, shares these steps with her students.
She is past-president of the Aiken Artist Guild and a former award-winning newspaper reporter and illustrator. Sharon teaches monthly painting workshops at Aiken Center for the Arts.

Get involved!  Volunteer Position Open
We are still looking for someone to manage the refreshments at the general meeting. This involves emailing or calling the volunteers for each meeting to ask them to bring food, setting up before the meeting and cleaning up after.

Contact Chris McKeel if you can  volunteer for either of these positions at 803-443-8526.
Memberships

Please renew your AAG membership ASAP.  Please be advised renewals are now considered late, incurring a $5.00 late fee.

Reminder, guild membership is a prerequisite for participation in the AAG member show.  You may become an AAG member or renew your membership through the AAG website. In the Menu pull down just select Membership.
