    Executive Director

Every month we are welcoming more Participants back to the in-person programs and we are so happy to see everyone. With the weather getting warmer we hope there will be lots of opportunities to get out in the community.

I would like to welcome our new Program Development Manager to Pegasus. Tess Murray will be responsible for overseeing PIFF, PSST, and fashion shows as well as creating future programming ideas. Tess is very excited to be part of Pegasus and has been an avid shopper in The Pegasus Shoppe for many years.

April 24 – 30 is National Volunteer Week. Where would we be without all our wonderful volunteers? From the store to our board, to the programs, to special events, to bingo, our volunteers are essential to Pegasus, and we cannot thank  them enough.

Spring has sprung! And so have our spring fashions. Come by to see what new outfit you can put together that yells spring!

Thank you to all the customers who continue to wear masks in our Shoppe. We support vulnerable people, and we want to continue to do everything to ensure they are safe
while the risk is still high.
National Volunteer Week is April 24 – 30, and we want to give a HUGE shout-out to all our fantastic volunteers! We are always looking for more volunteers, so if you can spare 3-4 hours a week, please reach out to store manager Heidi at storemanager@pegasustoronto.ca or drop by the Shoppe and ask for her.

Donations

Thank you to everyone who has been making donations via CanadaHelps. The response to our new monthly giving sponsorship has been overwhelming. Donations can be made to MattyPhoenix, SH Armstrong, and Beaches

This month Beaches started their indoor garden! Indoor enthusiasts feel free to offer suggestions! They watched The One and Only Ivan after finishing the book for their book club. Joe and Chole reviewed it on our Instagram.

   Stellar Star Staff

Congratulations to Naomi Fine for being this month's Stellar Star Staff! Naomi is a covering Float supervisor and has been with Pegasus for seven years.

All programs are excited that Naomi is back to her Float position. She covered maternity leave for the past 18 months at SH Armstrong and stepped up during COVID-19 to ensure SH was running as smoothly as possible.
Naomi has a great rapport with Participants from all programs to various group homes, families, and community supports. Naomi is a real team player and is an excellent example of our Pegasus staff!!

Board News

Spring has sprung and it’s lovely to see the crocuses and snowdrops, but where’s the warm weather?!  Our participants are ready and eager to get outside for more field trips and adventures.

At our meeting on March 23rd we had the pleasure of hearing from Ziyad and Eric from Part Time CFO Services.  You may recall, we engaged the services of this company to look after the bookkeeping and to provide support to our ED as she prepares documents for The Ministry and other funders. They presented a full budget for the coming fiscal year. Based on their projected numbers, we are looking at a deficit.  With careful planning, we feel this will be mitigated and we’ll be back in the black before year end.

YOU CAN HELP!  Bingo volunteers are needed to fill our quota and to keep money flowing for program enrichment such as Dramaway and Music Therapy. This is a significant source of funding.  Please reach out to your personal community to help fill the vacancies at Dolphin Bingo.  Each volunteer is only required to fill one 2.5 hour shift per month. Fundraising was identified as a priority and will be added to the agenda for our next meeting.

Our next Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, 27 April. If you have  anything you would like to suggest for discussion at upcoming Board meetings, please call or email Paula Murphy at 416-691-5651 or pmurphy@pegasustoronto.ca
