March was a busy month at O'Brien Guitars! Three students came and built guitars with me in individual private classes. All of them were cutaway models, One Florentine and Two Venetian.
Congratulations to all three students for creating these beautiful guitars!

All of the students that come and build with me put a French polished shellac finish on their guitars. We apply it using my modern approach to French polishing. This allows us to completely finish the guitar in 6 to 8 hours. For those not familiar with shellac, below is my latest Luthier Tips du Jour video. In this video I talk about shellac.
My popular Luthier Tips du Jour video series has received over 10 million views on my Youtube channel and you can purchase unreleased as well as previously released videos on my website. Folks all over the world are making my Luthier Tips du Jour videos part of their Lutherie libraries.

If you are interested in learning my French polish method I am offering a Virtual French polish class scheduled for April 24, May 1 and May 7. There are three class sessions of approximately 2 hours for each course. All classes begin at 9:00AM MDT and are interactive with live Q&A, multiple camera angles and streamed in HD to the comfort of your own shop. Contact me if interested in participating in this class. I only offer it once a year, so don't miss out.

If you are interested in learning to build guitars or just want
to see how I build my guitars then schedule a class with me.
If you are in need of a concert quality classical or steel string
guitar then let me know as I would love to build a guitar for you.

Thank you,
