SWISS PULSE IN NEW YORK
YESTERDAY. TODAY. TOMORROW.
PEDRO WIRZ AND JAN KIEFER
The Consulate General of Switzerland in New York and Kai Matsumiya gallery are pleased to present YESTERDAY. TODAY. TOMORROW. by Pedro Wirz and Jan Kiefer. While the works vary greatly in medium and style, both artists are concerned with the exploration of dualities and contradictions in our fragile ecosystem, examining the ways in which humans interact with the natural and synthetic environment. The exhibition is part of the ongoing series Art @ The Consulate and will be on view at the Consulate General of Switzerland in New York through September 30 by appointment. The Consulate is committed to supporting projects that foster a more sustainable future and believes that art plays a vital role in this conversation.

I have always felt uplifted at the sight of spectacular skyscrapers. Being in New York for the first time as a public diplomacy intern at the Consulate General of Switzerland, and not as a tourist, I really have the time to contemplate and lose myself in this mass of concrete, buildings and peaks that sometimes merge into one another. When I take the time to reflect on these thoughts, I feel that the work of Swiss photographer Vincent Jendly best resonates with my perspective of the city and its stunning architecture. Vincent, who began his career with a multi-award winning series on New York back in 2009, depicts the stunning representation of a civilization that New York is. I invite everyone, from veteran New Yorkers to those who have yet to discover this unpredictable city, to take a journey and lose themselves for a few minutes in Vincent’s remarkable work
