Join the 100% Renewable Brimbank Revolution

Brimbank Council is committed to leading our community to achieve zero-net greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. The key task: ‘electrify everything’ with 100% renewable electricity from solar, wind and water for a cleaner, greener, cooler and healthier Brimbank.

The next step is the 100% Renewable Brimbank program.

The program’s launch kicks off on Saturday 9 April with a no-charge community event to help residents, businesses and community groups find the best renewable electricity solutions for their needs.

There are lots of things residents and businesses can do to achieve 100% renewable electricity. It is not only good for the environment, but the hip pocket too.

The 100% Renewable Brimbank launch event will include presentations, workshops and displays on topics including solar panels and batteries, electric heating and cooling appliances, and government rebates to make it all cheaper to do.

Take home a complimentary native plant and enjoy a tea or coffee from Hamed’s Persian Kitchen.

So join us on Saturday 9 April, anytime between 10am and 1pm at St Albans Community Centre. Go to brimbank.vic.gov.au/renewable to register and learn more.

Must visit - Isabella Williams Memorial Reserve

Did you know that we have a conservation-managed grassland reserve that is nearly 2 hectares in size, right next to the Isabella Williams Memorial Park? This site supports a critically endangered vegetation community which includes Pimelea spinescens, a critically endangered plant species.

You might also enjoy the seed orchard of indigenous wildflowers and the sculpture by artist Damian Vick, titled 'Bifurcation'.

Get involved

A new 4-bin waste service is coming to Brimbank

From 2023, Brimbank will start making changes to waste services - these changes will impact bin sizes, collection frequency and how you separate your waste, as well as the colour of the bin lids. Our proposal has been considered and made in consultation with experts and industry. We welcome your feedback, including positive comments, on how this change will affect you and your household.

Have your say - Take a survey (around 10 minutes). Survey closes Monday 4th April.

Watch and learn: The Climate Crisis - A Different Lens

Get involved by learning more about climate change from the experts and hear about the problems we now face. Be inspired and watch the video (around 10 minutes) here. The climate crisis is the latest episode in A Different Lens documentary series, highlighting the need to provide culturally-relevant climate change information to ensure we all understand how climate change is affecting our health and the environment.

Why not learn more about what is happening with our climate now in Australia, and be inspired to stand together as a community to face this challenge.
