TRANSGENDER CRAZE

TARGETING K-12 Students
PRIE IllINOIS:
Director, Michelle Cunney exposes the truth!

"...some teachers (have been) counseling students pushing a transgender agenda, telling students to keep it from their parents. In the high school there have been names changed and genders changed without parental notice in like the in their records.  ...it’s happening at Gray's Lake Middle School... You cannot indoctrinate children in that way...they're too young to understand what it means to trans, go from being a girl to a boy.

That's why these new bills (legislation requiring K-12 Gender Identity curriculum) are starting so early. They just want to manipulate the kids whose brains have barely developed. They're not old enough to make these decisions and then you guys are allowing parents to stay in the dark." Michelle Cunney, parent, Grayslake, Illinois

...as a transgender woman a public speaker on transgender issues and the parent of a transgender child who attended this school district I believe I'm sufficiently qualified to offer an expert contrasting opinion in their comments the speaker first noted that the policies of the district related to gender expansive students were illegal an abuse of power and used to indoctrinate children into an LGBTQ plus lifestyle." Student Identity

One’s gender identity is an innate characteristic of each individual’s personality that is generally declared by a child at an early age. The person best situated to determine a student’s gender identity is the individual student. In a case where a student is not yet able to self-advocate, the request to respect and affirm a student’s identity will likely come from the student’s parent.

However, in other cases, transgender students may not want their parents to know about their transgender identity. These situations should be addressed on a case-by-case basis and school districts should balance the goal of supporting the student with the requirement that parents be kept informed about their children. The paramount consideration in such situations should be the health and safety of the student, while also making sure that the student’s gender identity is affirmed in a manner that maintains privacy and confidentiality.

... School personnel should be mindful of the confidentiality and privacy rights of students when communicating with others and mindful not to reveal, imply, or refer to a student’s gender identity or expression. To ensure confidentiality when discussing a particular concern such as academic progress, access to learning, conduct, discipline, grades, attendance, or health, the focus of school personnel should be specifically on the concern at issue and not on the student’s gender identity or expression.

OREGON: TRANSGENDER LESSONS AND POLICIES K-5
Teachers are learning their new guidelines and policies for teaching K-5 health. The following are answers to their questions.

"When should we ask students their pronouns?"
Gender identity and expression is introduced at the 3rd grade level; however, we also recognize the intersectionality of the Health curriculum and our District equity, SEL and other bodies of work that push us toward inclusivity in every classroom/building. All of this to say, there is not a specific time that we recommend asking students their pronouns and we encourage you to work with your building teams to establish this in ways that align with your current building culture. *If a student asks to be identified by pronouns other than those which align with their sex assigned at birth, we must honor that request.

'What we should do when a student asks us to call them by a preferred name (not legal name) and/or who identifies as a different gender than their sex assigned at birth (using a pronoun such as he, she, them, etc that may not match sex assigned at birth)? "
Student services has given the following guidance: Civil Rights Guidance referred to on the Oregon Gov. website. This helpful document indicates that we must honor what a student requests to be identified as (name, preferred pronoun, preferred gender), without parent permission. If we do not honor their identity and request within a classroom and school, we may face a civil rights (discrimination) claim and lawsuit. TTSD's expectation is that we honor the students request at all times as we continue to sponsor safe, supportive, and inclusive school environments for all students.

"What happens if a parents disagrees with a student’s transgender status?"
Schools are in a challenging position when a parent disagrees with a student’s decisions relating to their gender identity. The school must respect the right of the parents to raise their child, but must also protect the student at school and prevent discrimination and bullying. In TTSD we will honor the student's request and continue to work with the student to feel comfortable talking to their family. Health (including mental health) and safety of the student is a higher priority than staff informing the family about anything related to gender identity against the child's wishes.
